It was her teacher who suggested she audition to play the character of Anne for their school's annual production. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the lead character in Anne of Green Gables after she had a go at. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2000. In the past 20 years, her work has been featured on both the small and big screen. The most notable was her attention when she won her role as Rita in the acclaimed television series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel played the role of Rita in The Handmaid's Tale, a series that was filming over 10 years ago.
